Thailand - The Reclining Buddha at...
...Wat Pho.
Difficult to show the scale of the statue here. It is 45m long and about 15m high. In the photo you can see people way down by the feet. The plinth is about shoulder height for an adult. The feet and eyes are inlaid with mother of pearl.

Thailand - Chinatown and shopping
This morning we took a walk around Chinatown and visited a Chinese temple in the area, Wat Leng Noei Yi officially named Wat Mangkon Kamalawat. We spent some time walking through the market lanes almost down to the river. Later that evening we went to the Paragon shopping centre.

Thailand - Grand Palace
Spent the morning having a look at the more modern side of Bangkok and went to the Chit Lom Skytrain station, then walked around the area. Spent a short time at the Erawan Shrine amongst the incense smoke, then had a very delightful lunch at one of the more upmarket restaurants nearby.
Afterwards we spent the afternoon at the Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha temple. The large gold stupa is Phra Siratana Chedi. It is part of the old temple complex of the Grand palace.

Thailand - First Full Day
Went to Chatuchak Markets (where else on a weekend) and had a look around for a good part of the day. Later we took a Tuk Tuk to Silom Village for tea. Silom Village is on Silom Road and consists of a number of antique and ther shops along with a few good eateries. There are traditional dancer there every night. I had a nice chilli chicken but swallowed a whole chilli by mistake. I won't do that again in a hurry!
